Volunteering is a great way to be a part of The Benevolent Society’s work.
Every year, more than 700 volunteers provide us with invaluable support across all our programs and services. Whether you’re interested in events, administration, fundraising, program support or social visiting, we have opportunities for volunteers with a range of different skills, knowledge and experience.
You'll learn new skills and develop existing ones. With such a variety of volunteering opportunities on offer, there's bound to be something to suit you, and we provide ongoing training, supervision and support for all our volunteers. Above all, it’s a chance to make a real difference for your local community.
So, if you have spare time and want to put your skills, talents, energy and passion to work in the community with The Benevolent Society, please visit our Volunteer Opportunities page or call the Manager Volunteer Programs on 02 9339 8086.

Nell Morgan
Nell Morgan has been volunteering for Northern Beaches Food Services since May 1992 for a total 17 years. Although she has her own challenges with a visual impairment, and is not much younger than many of the service’s clients, Nell remains a committed and reliable volunteer.
Nell embodies the spirit of a Meals on Wheels volunteer. She delivers more than just food - she takes a personal interest in all the clients on her run and knows them well enough to stay and have a chat/ to report on an overgrown backyard or whatever else she can do to help.
Nell assists our volunteer drivers by coming into the office early to studiously work out client’s special requirements and instructions. With the aid of her magnifying glass she ensures accurate and seamless deliveries. This conscientiousness, combined with her easy nature and great listening skills have made her very popular with the other volunteers and clients alike. In fact, many volunteers have asked to continue being paired up with Nell, while clients have commented on her tenacity and care.
Nell’s dedication and commitment to The Benevolent Society’s work is exemplary and one that is truly appreciated. She deserves this award for her wonderful example of giving despite personal challenges, the care she has shown to clients and her reliability.
