Influencing social policy to create a fairer Australia

The Benevolent Society aims to create caring and connected communities and a just society. One way that we hope to achieve this is by influencing governments, other decision makers and community opinion.

We do this by:

  • listening to our clients and the communities in which we work
  • documenting, evaluating and improving our services
  • undertaking research and drawing on the latest research from Australia and overseas
  • promoting increased understanding of social issues and the causes of disadvantage
  • putting forward solutions to governments and opinion leaders, in position papers, research snapshots and submissions
  • conducting public campaigns to support the most vulnerable in the community.

We also recognise the importance of other interconnecting social issues.  Read more about these issues in our agenda for influencing social change in Australia.
