Brighter Futures in the Central West of NSW is working with local families to support them in caring for their children.

We provide services and targeted support for children aged 0-8 years and their families as they address challenges that might otherwise place the children or family at risk.

Services include:

• case management for families to support them in identifying and reaching their goals
• professional home visiting support for parents to assist them as they build their parenting skills and develop an understanding of children’s needs and behaviours
• access to childcare and quality children's services
• supported playgroups for children to assist their learning and development
• parenting groups and one-to-one parenting support
• practical support to help families meet basic material needs and access services and resources in the community
• support to help strengthen links between the family and their community.

We have staff based in Kelso (near Bathurst), Orange, Lithgow, Mudgee and Parkes and provide outreach services across the region. The area includes Lithgow in the east to Lake Cargelligo in the west and from Gulgong and Tottenham in the north to Cowra and  West Wyalong in the south.

Our team of professionals has extensive experience in social work, welfare, and early childhood care and education. Our team includes a number of Indigenous staff members who are available to work with Indigenous families engaged with the program.

We are working with many local agencies including family support services, local Councils, health services, schools, Indigenous services, disability services, children’s services, and community and neighbourhood centres.

The Brighter Futures program is voluntary and families must be referred to it by the NSW Department of Community Services, a community agency or individual such as a GP, childcare or community health worker. The NSW Department of Community Services funds the Brighter Futures program.
