The Benevolent Society provides a wide range of high quality services to older people and their family members.

Most older people live active and independent lives contributing to the community in many ways. Older people work as volunteers, play an active role in the lives of grandchildren, provide care to family members and act as mentors to future generations. However, long life can bring health challenges and sometimes older people need assistance which families and friends cannot give.

The Benevolent Society provides:

  • community care services that help older people to stay living in their own homes and involved in their communities
  • support to people who are looking after an older relative or friend
  • specialised care to people with dementia
  • residential care
  • help with housing
  • information to help people determine their own future care and financial arrangements
  • services to promote the health and wellbeing of older women.

The Society works in communities to strengthen and utilise the contributions of older men and older women and aims to develop new ways of supporting older people to live independently.

The Society aims to have an influence on important social issues affecting older people, especially those who are vulnerable to social exclusion, abuse or exploitation.  Resources on best practice are available for professionals who work with older people.
