The SLA Alumni: a network of change agents

Our Program graduates become part of a network of leaders who can work together to address challenging social issues

The Social Leadership Australia (SLA) Alumni Network builds on the individual and group experiences of all our program graduates. It draws together more than 350 individuals from all areas of the community who are committed to applying their skills and passion to bring about lasting social change.

As a graduate you can use the SLA Alumni Network in a number of ways:

•  to create meaningful connections with others who share your interests and commitment
•  as a knowledge exchange
•  as a means of identifying opportunities for collaboration on new projects
•  as a unique network of contacts across different sectors and geographical areas

You can continue to develop your leadership skills and work with others to tackle the social issues they feel most passionate about, address challenges in their daily working life and confront issues in their local communities.

Hear from some Sydney Leadership Alumni and see some examples of their work

•  Find out how Nada Roude has used the music of Syrian group, Al Madeheen, to introduce a new audience to the spirituality of Islam (2:20 mins)

•  Discover how the Australian Business Community Network (ABCN) Goals program is introducing children who might be considering dropping out of school to corporate mentors from major companies (2:15mins)

•  Hear Mark Yettica-Paulson and the 2008 Sydney Leadership Alumni discuss why Sydney Leadership is needed and what they get out of it (2:45mins).

Developing the SLA Alumni Network

Social Leadership Australia is committed to the ongoing development of its Alumni Network.

In Winter 2009 Social Leadership Australia introduced The Conversation Series, four evenings created exclusively for alumni of the Sydney Leadership Program and Rural Leadership Program to come together in a learning space for discussion and connection. Aimed at increasing capacity to drive social change, each three hour session is facilitated by a different SLA program director, incorporating new techniques and processes used in the SLA program delivery.

SLA Alumni online community

Also in development for the SLA Alumni is a new online community designed to facilitate ongoing networking, shared ideas and information and project development.
