PARC’s intermediary service helps people affected by adoption approach the person they have been searching for.
The way in which contact is made can impact upon the chances of a successful relationship developing.
PARC’s 2001 research into contact and reunion, At least now I know, found that those who make contact through a letter or an intermediary have a significantly better chance of a positive reunion than those who make contact through a phone call or knocking on the door.
Using PARC’s intermediary service
There are three possible courses of action:
- PARC, at your request, may approach and receive contact from the person you are seeking
- PARC may make the approach and give the other party the choice of responding to PARC or to you directly
- You may wish to make the approach yourself but offer the other party the choice of responding to you directly or to PARC as a second option.
Contact PARC and discuss any of these matters with a PARC counsellor and read the Information Sheet below before making your decision.
