Brighter Futures Northern Sydney is working with families in the region to support them in caring for their children.
The Benevolent Society is working in partnership with Dalwood Spilstead Centre to deliver Brighter Futures Northern Sydney. We provide services and targeted support for children aged 0-8 years and their families as they address challenges that might otherwise place the children or family at risk.
Services include:
- supporting families to identify and reach their goals
- family counsellors to provide individual parent or family counselling as well as parent support and individual parenting programs
- parent education group programs to promote parent confidence and skills
- parent and child interaction playgroups which include parent education sessions followed by child-focused play
- volunteer home support services where trained volunteers provide weekly home visits
- individual home visiting play sessions and weekly playgroups for families with children under two years
- early education services for children under two years who have developmental needs as well as individual home visiting play sessions and a weekly playgroup
- speech pathology, clinical psychology, art therapy and occupational therapy services for children from both the under 2s or preschool programs.
The Benevolent Society provides these services for Ryde, Hunters Hill, Hornsby and Ku-ring-gai, while the Dalwood Spilstead Centre is providing services for Pittwater, Manly, Willoughby, Lane Cove, Warringah, North Sydney and Mosman.
The Brighter Futures program is voluntary and families must be referred to it by the NSW Department of Community Services, a community agency or individual such as a GP, childcare or community health worker. The NSW Department of Community Services funds the Brighter Futures program.
