Brighter Futures Bankstown is working with local families in the region to support them in caring for their children.
We provide services and targeted support for children aged 0-8 years and their families as they address challenges that might otherwise place the children or family at risk.
Services include:
- professional home visiting to provide support and strategies to assist in building parenting skills and understanding of children’s needs and behaviours
- case planning and co-ordination of services for families as they identify and work towards their goals
- access to quality child care to encourage all aspects of children’s development
- parenting groups and one-to-one parenting support
- supported weekly playgroups
- counselling for parents, children and/or the whole family
- professional assessments to identify children’s developmental needs
- shared family activities to assist children's growth and development
- practical support tailored to help families meet basic material needs and access services and resources in the community
- information for families as they connect with their local communities.
We are located in Punchbowl, conveniently close to public transport though transport for families enrolled in our program can be arranged if needed. Our facilities include a parenting and child-friendly Play to Learn Centre, which is well equipped with resources, and a large backyard for outdoor activities.
The Brighter Futures program is voluntary and families must be referred to it by the NSW Department of Community Services, a community agency or individual such as a GP, childcare or community health worker. Brighter Futures is funded by the NSW Department of Community Services.
